(this is an old, unpublished question. I don't know that it's deep, or particularly interesting -- there must have been a reason I didn't publish it back when I saved it, though maybe it was because I wanted to wait until the game was over, then forgot about it. Anyway, maybe it's of some interest)

If irilyth uses the 10-sider to capture the 4-sider, there's an outside chance that the 10-sider will reroll a value of either 8 or 10. This in turn would force the 14-sider to power attack, which leaves the chance that irilyth may be able to keep his 10-sider while capturing all ElihuRoot's dice.
You've got the right initial attack, but I don't think irilyth can keep the 10-sider in any case... if I have to reroll the 14-side die, I'm taking the 10-sider then. irilyth has to hope to capture almost all of my dice (all but one of either the (4) or the (6) *and* lose the poison die on the last roll, which means he has to leave the (6) for last.
