eat the poison?

This one may be more subtle than it appears to be!

What do you think? I have to take either the 10-sided die or the 20-sided die.
which should I take? and should I do a skill attack or a power attack?

To win, you'll need to either take his swing die or avoid taking his poison die, so you need him to reroll at least one of them. Taking the poison die seems to be a bad idea:

-If taken with a power attack, he can reroll the 10-sider at least once before he has to reroll the swing.
-If taken with a skill attack, there's an 11/16 chance he can reroll the 10-sider at least once.

As for taking the 10-sider:

-If taken by a power attack, there's an 85% chance that the swing die will reroll safely after taking your 10-sider, forcing you to take his poison die (and no situation where any other move on his part would be a better move).
-If taken with a skill attack, you have a 15% chance of being able to capture his swing die after a reroll if your dice still show 1 and 2 and better odds on any other pairing on your dice.

So, it seems to me that the best move is to take the 10-sided die with a skill attack.

If you take the 10, you're up by 32 sides, and alaric needs to make you capture the p20. If instead you take the p20, you're only up by 2 sides, and alaric doesn't care whether you also take his 10; all he needs to do is hold onto his 20.

So for that reason I think you need to capture the 10 now. The question is how. Regardless of whether you use a power or skill attack the p20 will still be within your reach, so if you do a power attack alaric will take your 10 (or maybe your 8 if you reroll a one), with a very good chance of forcing you to take the p20.
On the other hand if you do a skill attack there's about a 30% chance alaric'll *have* to attack with his 20, and you might get it there. And even if he is able to attack with his p20, there's still a reasonable chance it'll reroll too high for you to capture.

So I say do a skill attack on alaric's 10.
