two obvious options --

ONE: take his d4(2) with MY d4(2), hope to roll  a 4
force him to roll his d20. I'd then have 1 chance in 5 he'd roll low enough to be captures.
that gives me 1 chance in 20 -- actually, still more, since even if my d(4) rolls low, he has to either
roll his d20 or give mine one last chance of rolling above 19  -- this is 3/4* 1/20, for a grand total of
7/80, or 8.75%

TWO:  take his d4(3) with my d20(5).  1/10 of the time I roll 1 or 2 and it's over; 1/20 I roll 3. He'll take my d4 and 3/4 of the time I'll have one more chance to roll the d20, with 1/20 chance of winning.
 15/20 I roll 4-18, and then I'll certainly get one more chance to roll above 19, with 1/20 chance of winning;
1/20 I roll 19 and he has to take me, I could win if he rolls 1 or 2 [1/10 chance], or if he rolls a 3
and my next attack rerolls to a 4 [1/20 * 1/4 chance];
and the final 1/20 I roll 20 and I win.

what's that?  1/20*(3/4*1/20) + 15/20 * 1/20  + 1/20[1/10 + 1/20*1/4]  + 1/20 = 38/400 = 9.5%
that's pretty close!

a very common sort of decision.

Should I reroll the 20-sided die, with a faint chance of forcing the reroll of *his* 20-sided die and
an even fainter chance of rolling a 20 -- but with the not-inconsiderable  risk of having the die roll low and be recaptured by his little die?

Or should I take his d20 with my d8 and d5, which are currently showing their maximum and reroll
THEM -- leaving my d20 still vulnerable, and risking losing my little dice without any real compensation?

What do you think?

Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to reroll the d20 in this situation; sure, it will probably have to be rerolled, but if we take the d8 with value 6 right now, the d20 is safe for another turn -- it's always better
to wait until there are fewer dice on the board to reroll it.

But, even if you buy that, the question remains -- how should we capture that d8 with value 6? If we don't reroll the d10, it's vulnerable; but are there some other considerations  to .. um, consider? I think so,
but I don't want to give too much away, and, besides, I might be wrong.

... before I kill you Mr. Bond...

Should I take G's 20-sided die or the 12-sided die? My usual preference is to take the 20-sided die now, to prevent it from rolling too high for me to recapture -- but I have a decent chance of denying it any captures next turn, don't I? What's best?

Which reroll helps me the most?

I have no way of taking G's d20with value 19, so it's clear I should take the d20 with value 12. But how? Should I use
my d20 alone since my other dice have relatively large values and I have a 5% chance of rolling a 20? Or the d10/d19 skill attack? or the d4-d8-d19 skill attack?

Darn it!

I need to take both his 10-sided die and his 7-sided die to win. It's pretty close -- if I take
the 7-sided die I have 5 chances in 12 of rolling safe from capture, vs. only 4 chances in 12 if I take the 10-sided die. [anyway, if I roll 11 or 12, it won't matter which one I took]. On the other hand, leaving him his 10-sided die may give him more chances for victory in all cases but when I reroll 10,11, or 12]

What should I do?

There's no doubt that I should take the 6-sided die (wait -- as I think about it, I'm starting to generate
some doubt in my mind!) -- but should I capture with my  6 sided die or my 4 sided die?
I can articulate reasons for both, but the more I think about it, the  less convincing those reasons sound to me.
