Darn it!

I need to take both his 10-sided die and his 7-sided die to win. It's pretty close -- if I take
the 7-sided die I have 5 chances in 12 of rolling safe from capture, vs. only 4 chances in 12 if I take the 10-sided die. [anyway, if I roll 11 or 12, it won't matter which one I took]. On the other hand, leaving him his 10-sided die may give him more chances for victory in all cases but when I reroll 10,11, or 12]

What should I do?

There's no doubt that I should take the 6-sided die (wait -- as I think about it, I'm starting to generate
some doubt in my mind!) -- but should I capture with my  6 sided die or my 4 sided die?
I can articulate reasons for both, but the more I think about it, the  less convincing those reasons sound to me.

after two months off, post 98

Maybe this is obvious, but I found myself tripping over it. Here I am, as so often with Sailor Man, down 2 rounds right at the start. I actually need to win with more than 32 sides uncaptured. Is there a case for rerolling my (10,10) die instead of my 8-sided die? is there a case for rerolling my (6,6) die? [presumably there's no case for rerolling the 20-sided die]

It probably doesn't matter all that much, but why give up any percentage points?

Two different issues here -- which die to use, which die to target. I *think* the answers are obvious,
but I haven't done the math, and sometimes it can surprise me.

not really a question

i. has just one faint chance of winning this. I don't think it's hard to see, I was just struck by how unlikely it is and thought it was pretty.

When you have to keep ALMOST every die...

If I needed to keep all three dice in order to win, I'd reroll the 30 sided die. That's obvious, right?

But which die make the most sense to reroll here? And -- bonus question -- which die should I take? Does it matter that some of them are speed dice?

I think this is somewhat interesting, for a simple position

It's just on the edge of calculable (I think I know the answer), but -- while there's no doubt WHICH die to take, it's a little subtle as to which die you should capture it with. Test your intuition, then see if you can do the math. As long as you capture  the obvious die, you'll have at least 90% chance of winning no matter which die you do it with-- but if you take it with the correct die, it shoots up to almost 96%.
